Background/Qualifications & Approach:
As a registered psychotherapist with an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, I have over 20 years of experience working in therapeutic, educational, and leadership roles. I have provided coaching and counselling services to hundreds of clients and have provided clinical supervision to several clinicians over the years through my role as Program Director of a mental health and addictions program as well as clinical manager in the developmental and children’s mental health sectors. In addition to my skills and experience as a psychotherapist and life coach, I am certified as a Third Party Neutral through the Canadian Institute of Conflict Resolution. As a clinician, my approach involves tenants of CBT, psychotherapy, Solution-focused Brief Therapy, as well as trauma-informed care.
I provide counselling services to individuals struggling with mental health problems as well as other mental, emotional and social issues. I provide a safe, understanding, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their problems and help them find effective strategies and solutions so they can enjoy what life has to offer.
My practice is open to adults with various mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder as well as other stress-related conditions.
Goals & Objectives:
- Challenge clients to take responsibility for the quality of their lives by developing clear and measurable goals
- Help clients learn specific techniques to change their unproductive thinking, behaviour, and emotional responses/patterns
- Assist clients in developing solutions and skills to overcome their current difficulties
- Resolve emotional challenges
- Raise level of awareness
- Get clarity and confidence to live powerfully and with purpose
Sessions are 100% confidential, however by law, I am required to report suspected child abuse, elder abuse, and/or secure help for individuals who are deemed to be an imminent danger to themselves and/or others. Additionally, I may be required to respond to a subpoena, court order, or to testify in court. A confidentiality agreement is signed at the start of services.
For all individual counselling services, a plan with specifics goals will be developed in collaboration with the client.
1-12 sessions: $175/hour
12+ sessions: $150.00/hour
